The world football governing body FIFA, has explained why it banned the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, from taking their musical instruments into stadiums, saying the decision was made by local security authorities.
Although the Nigerian supporters have graced every FIFA tournament since the World Cup in 1994 with their drums and other musical instruments, they have been prevented from doing so in Brazil.
“The fans cannot enter the Fifa World Cup arenas with musical instruments of any kind,” a FIFA spokesperson told KickOffNigeria.
“The objects allowed in the stadium are regulated by the Code of Conduct in the Fifa World Cup Stadia, published on FIFA.com at http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/organisation/ticketing/legal/stadium-code-of-conduct/index.html.
“This manual developed by security staff regulates items allowed or forbidden inside the stadiums.
“It´s important to note that it was not a FIFA decision, but a decision from the local security authorities.”
