CHIBOK GIRLS LATEST: Australia To Deploy Special Forces To Help Rescue Missing School Girls In Nigeria

On the 14th of April, 200 Chibok school girls were kidnapped by the Boko Haram sect in Borno State and efforts by the Nigerian Federal Government to rescue the abducted girls have been in vain.


However, we have gathered reports on this incident which says that the Australian Government have decided to deploy special forces to Nigeria in a bid to help rescue the missing girls.

Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop who broke the news in a chat with Sky News told the media that Special Air Service (SAS) is on standby and waiting for the Nigerian Government to accept the offer before they can come in. It is also reported that the Nigerian Government is yet to respond to the offer.

Julie Bishop said,

“Australian troops, the SAS, are always on standby for contingencies,” 

“We have made an offer to the Nigerian government to provide whatever support they need to release the girls. We’ve made a specific offer to our UK and US allies … that we are ready to assist in whatever way we can.

“We have not had a response from the Nigerian government.

“They’ve thanked us for our willingness to be involved in trying to rescue the girls but we haven’t had any specific acceptance of the offers that we’ve made.”

Nigeria is already receiving surveillance and intelligence support from USA, France, United Kingdom and Israel but there hasn't been any significant improvement on the situation.

We have also gathered that no country has ever offered their special troops or forces to aid in rescue operations so Australia's move will be the first and shows a sign of real support.

Meanwhile, we await to know the response given by the Nigerian government.
